Week Two

Week 2 - and there is evidence of our goings-on all over town!

The first equipment to go up is the festoon lighting - the zig-zags of cable with a bulb holder every couple of feet. With a swift start, and quite a late finish once again, we managed to erect the festoon all the way from Flowerdews to Caleb Roberts, and Pump Street as well, right down to the bypass. This coming weekend should see the completion of this work.

Meanwhile, a second team were working hard at repairing the faults on the set pieces. The majority of these are built up, using ropelight - a plastic extrusion incorporating LEDs every couple of inches, in sections of roughly six inches in series. When one LED goes wrong, a section has to be cut out and replaced, which is a bit time consuming and tricky, but we are well used to doing it. A couple of controllers need attention (one due to water ingress) but we have plenty of experience dealing with these issues.Plenty of work for the soldering irons!
Let’s hope the good weather continues on forthcoming Sundays - we have had two lovely days so far.
